the Swamptuary

I got home from the new school extended day in a rush to get to my evening class at Brooklyn College by 5:20. Let’s just say I was very late. I walk in the door, only to discover the mysterious transplant of a mudpit in what used to be the main area of the loft. After nearly two months of inaction on the part of our slumlord, Roommate Bryan finally got the owner of the building to do something about our floor. Unfortunately, the problems keep expanding. Our subfloor rests on dirt, but that has apparently been mud for some time due to sump pumps not working. Termites also invaded the system, then the leaks from the loft above us and underneath the shower and toilet have finished the job. Poor Bear is freaking, gnats are all over the place, our bathroom is filthy and sinkless, and rats now have easy access into the entire area. The smell is awful, the work is shoddy, and we don’t need this right now. I have a feeling this isn’t going to be good in a week.

On the positive side, Roommate Bryan bought Roommate Michael and me Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. Yummy.
