Halloweekend

Halloweekend was such an event. Halloween is like Christmas for me, but less scary. It is the one night of the year where you can live out any fantasy you want, and you’ll only get compliments from people. I’ve had other days when people complimented me on the penis, but Halloween a few years ago had a surplus on its size and skill. Roommate Bryan was superduper helpful in creating a theme for my costume this year, and also basically fleshed it out it for me. Really, I should just consider my head and body a canvas for my artistic friends. He has a major creative force inside that mohawked head of his. It will take him somewhere if he ever wakes up before noon.

Bryan worked for hours making this shimmering pattern across this weird jacket I acquired years ago. I spackled my head with silver greasepaint, removed a huge chunk of chest hair trying to spread the greasepaint onto my chest, and basically fretted while waiting for Bryan to do something cunning with the ensemble. He extended the coat pattern onto my head, loaned me a silver pair of pants, and glued silver disks onto my skull. I obsessed about whether it was extreme enough, but Bryan reassured me that it was skillfully balanced. Never argue with experts.

The subway was transportation for a freak show, disgorging strange creatures, literary figures, and caricatures into the Manhattan night. I met up with Scott, Andy, Rick, and Queeny Michael. Scott was dressed up as an internet-junk mail jew, Andy was dressed as a comedian, and Michael looked like a slightly chunky Renee Zellweger. Manhattan really does become a different city on this night, allowing all the hidden to be revealed in magical ways. Andy and Michael’s choices for bars left something to be desired, as Rolling Rock should never cost 7 dollars, but otherwise it was fantastic. Compared to previous years, the removal of the makeup was so much easier. Bryan recommended baby wipes, and they were miraculous. Getting it out of the chest hair was problematic and painful, but that is what I do for art.

Next night was a party at Chris Uffish's place, and nothing is more fun than having a relaxing fun night with tons of interesting people. Plus there was kitty litter box cake. Good stuff.

Sunday my aunt and uncle took me out to see the Blue Man Group and then dinner at Gramercy Tavern. Blue Man is the ultimate product of the drumming produced in my classroom, but much more sophisticated. My poor aunt was pulled onto the stage with the performers, as they somehow know that she has amazing composure. She looked extremely classy eating a Twinkie Lite, presented bits of twinkies to the others in the Japanese style, and even looked merely stoic as some strange banana goo erupted from the front of her chest apparatus. We discussed the teaching ideas the show gave us afterwards and walked up to Gramercy Tavern.

The food was wonderful, the service was impeccable, and they gave me two tickets to the Chocolate Show the weekend after next. It was a perfect day, and I can’t wait to go.

"I've had other days when people complimented me on the penis...on its size and skill"????

Glenn, the people want to hear details on this! Explain. Please!! With pictures if possible. And don't give us that old "oh, I dressed up as a 6 foot penis" song and dance!! We know you're holding out on us!!

More penis compliments await!!!
