Car Lust

I am seriously lusting after the Chrysler PT Cruiser GT Turbo with 220 hp. I had seen some car show previews, but the real thing is really fun. Yes, I know that I live in a city where ownership of a car is seriously inconvenient.

I love cars. I subscribe to the magazines, I act star-struck when I see something rare on the street, and I can remember ex-boyfriends' cars with better detail than the ex's eye color. I miss the feel of hundreds of ponies underneath me, tied to every one of my senses, the earth tumbling away in my rearview mirror.

I'd better rent something to get it out of my system.

Unfortunately, as you would soon discover, here in the U.S. it's impossible to rent anything you'd really want to drive. In fact, even if you wanted to buy or lease something, only the dullest, most gimicky and most obese vehicles on the planet are available here.

You'll have to look at European car magazines to see anything which relates to the 21st century. And while those cars are responsible, they're definitely not dull and way too smart to go retro.

I agree, yet I have always been in love with convertibles. The Mini convertible will be my next passion, and the Smart convertible gets me giddy.

The whole Japanese 850cc class cars are amazing, and I still want to sell my soul for the new Alfa Spyder.

So true, so true. I will always remember sitting on my lanai with you watching the sunset over Waikiki beach, and you were concentrated on naming the make, model and year of every car parked in my little ghetto neighborhood. Sunset shumnset.

It was a pretty good party trick, though.

Gjamin, your post in a comment "and I still want to sell my soul for the new Alfa Spyder."

Your soul is worth SO MUCH more than a shiney object.
