Commute

For the last three years, I've laughed snootily at all the poor saps traveling to work.

Snooty, snooty laughs.

My old school was nightmarish on so many levels, but I could walk there in ten minutes, eight if I was really fast. A short commute became my standard of teaching.

I moved in with Derrick to avoid commuting. I moved to a new school with a 20 minute walk to avoid commuting.

I'm commuting this week, and I hate it more than clowns. I'm fine with the subways normally, but I rarely travel it during rush hour. I have to leave at least 45 minutes early to get downtown on time.

I honestly can't conceive how people can do this every day. The heat, the frustration of missing trains, the crowds- it would all suck the life out of me if I did it every day.

Some people say my job is tough. I say commuting is tougher.

People do strange things just to survive. I personally don't understand it; then again, I'm the fool who commuted from Penn to NYU for six months. People do strange things for boys, too.

Commuting does indeed suck life. Indeed. Yeesh.

Yeah, taking mass transit can suck. The last 5 years I went to my school(which went from Kindergarten through 12th) I had to finally take the bus when it moved down to 23rd St. and the FDR Dr. So I had to take the 2 Ave. bus down to 25 St. and then walk to the school. The first year included having to cross the FDR!! Luckily, the footbridge was finally opened after that and dodging cars wasn't a worry.

i used to commute from ft worth to dallas for every gig i did...during rush hour it could easily take 45-60 minutes and if things were really bad, it could take 2 hours. i did this one summer without the luxury of air conditioning. do you know what 635 at 5pm on an august afternoon is like without air?????

sorry, i'm ranting a bit. have a nice commute, sucker!

Wow. You're lucky you don't have to commute on the subway. For me, it's been a way of life for the past 6 years. But then again, I don't think I would move to be closer to where my current work is because I like my neighborhood a lot. I wouldn't want my work to dictate where I live.

Oh, I'm with YOU! I'd much rather walk 45 minutes than commute in a subway for that amount of time...
