Fibonacci

So a literacy person at my school has been pressuring me to write a poem for her literacy program. She apparently never saw me negotiating carefully with my English teachers back in high school. I would analyze poetry, but my poetry was awful.

Now math poetry is all the rage.

Here's my first attempt. Any suggestions?

Math
For
Me is
Natural
Subtle, discrete, more
Than just two plus two equals four.

(Derrick just pointed out to me that my poetry is a little on the literal side.) See? I'm not good at poetry.

How about a cinquain? Here's a math one with the structure outlined: http://teams.lacoe.edu/documentation/classrooms/amy/algebra/5-6/activities/poetry/cinquain.html

It rocks...it schoolhouse rocks! Yes it may be literal, but poetry is also about rhythm and sound. Your little verse has a great beat. Know any musicians?

Hey, poet... I mentioned you over at my place today...

Say hi to Derrick!

I *majored in Lit* and I can't write poetry. It's a very specific talent, I think. Not all brains are set up for it.

Tell Derrick you're literarily literal.

That, or start the poem of with something like "There once was a quadrinomial from Nantucket..."

Math I always skipped
I hid in the library
or the Dairy Queen.

I think I like palochi's suggestion better than mine. That would definitely add some fun to the PD.

Good for you for putting a poem out there. I lack this skill, even along literal lines.
