Not quite one day left
One day left until the last kids flee the building. Since I stupidly agreed to work as the math coach during the summer, I will only have the long weekend before I see quite a few of the kids again for another 6 weeks.
Stupid, stupid man. How did I choose this?
Oh yeah. Guilt for leaving my school, feeling like I'm abandoning children. Guilt is even worse than the triple dog dare.
Well, I guess weekends will be important. Now who wants to go on some weekend trips?

Stop with the guilt crap and start with the holier than thou 'I'm working with my KIDS this summer because I'm practically a SAINT, man' crap! ;-)

You are truly a man amongst men, Mr G. Weekends are indeed the key - now just remember to keep 08/26&27 free for Antipodean visitors! ;)

Oh well, as this grandson of Wisconsin dairy farmers was reminded by Mom's retort to her two daughters in today's "STONE SOUP" cartoon, "Summer vacation was created so kids could help out on the farm, bringing in the crops. Kids worked harder in summer."
Of course I didn't say I myself grew up on a farm, and she doesn't say anything about teachers. Anyway, nobody should listen to me: What kind of authority can a "retired" guy command in this area?
But I will authorize myself to say one thing: You are a saint, G, you are.

I know a really good park that's really nice in the summer. Coincidentally, it's 2 miles from my place! :-)

I remember one of the Fellow advisor types describing summer school as "blood money." Interestingly, perhaps, it was while student teaching during summer school that I saw, following a fight in the hall during which a window was broken, blood -- on the walls, on the floor, all over a kid's t-shirt.
Hope you find your summer stint useful to the kids, if nothing else. And I hope your school has good air conditioning!
