Heat Index of 115 this week.

It is just too frickin' hot to do anything, and I shall be slowly baked alive in my school. If the electricity does die, we'll just euthanize the children in a way that produces as little sweating as possible.

On another note, this is day TWO that our apartment building has no water to the bathrooms. We're having to shower at friends' houses, and flushing the toilet involves filling up pitchers of water from the sink in the kitchen.

Euthanization is a long-term problem to a temporary solution......

.....oh wait, that's for suicide.

Go on ahead.

Why don't you just pee in the sink? -grin-

That sucks.
I ended up waking to not having any hot water.
(Which, with this heat isn't too bad.
Although I really don't enjoy the concept
of my balls going mach 5 straight into my body due to flash shrinkage. But, meh.)
But the kicker is, they fixed the hot water eventually...
But somehow managed to turn on the hot water heaters at the same time!
Needless to say, I booked it out of there ASAP.
I mean really.
Thats just plain dumb and dangerous.

Wups! I meant long-term alternative to a temporary problem. Well, whatever's right, do what ya gotta do to stay cool.

Doug's solution of peeing in the sink is doable. However, you have to be careful. Over the years of working with kids in school [little ones not high school] I have had to teach some pretty basic things that one would hope that parents should have taught them.

Peeing in the sink has come up more than once. I usually ask the kid if they do that at home to make a point. Wrong thing to say sometimes. I asked Clyde, a second grader, a few years ago if he did it at home and his answer was, "Yes." I suddenly realized that he lived in a house with 6 brothers and only one bathroom!

When ya gotta go, ya gotta go!

The heat is unfun.

You know, being that rent in New York is about six hundred thousand dollars a week, I'd be really pissed off about the plumbing situation. And the brown-outs, and isn't there a rule about when it hits 100 degrees school gets cancelled?

Yeah, I'm holding my breath, too that the Grid keeps up and running for the next coupla days of hellish heat... After what happened in Queens, I don't have much faith in Con Ed for a quick restoration of power in case of Emergency...

Fingers crossed.

Hey, if you are down this way and need a shower... Come on by...

My blog today is all about you, G. :)

Since I live at 187th and work on Wall Street (on the 20th floor) I am in constant fear that I'm going to have to walk home some day. Stupid ConEd. Stupid global warming. Stupid President Bush not doing jack-all to promote conservation or alternative energies.

Drink beer 'n eat fried chicken. That is all. Maybe grumble listlessly at the yung'uns, but make no effort to stop their carryin' on.

Showering with friends? Hmmmm, maybe there ARE some benefits to the situation....

Posted by: Legend at August 1, 2006 05:07 PM

Oh, yes, I would be in favor of showering with friends. Mmmm.
