Traveling took so long, I could have been in Hawaii

I better have burned out all the bad karma traveling to SF. Woke up at 3 am to get out of house at 4. There was no hot water in the shower, so I did one of those 'ooch, yikes' type of showers. Get to the subway to go to JFK on time, but the A was going local, plus all the way down Central Park West it was stuck behind a garbage truck. I was on the subway for almost 2 hours. Get to the airport at 6 am, plane should leave at 7:15, then there was a problem with the tail section. We left the tarmac at 8, but tail winds helped us get to SF basically on time.

What? No baggage for 45 passengers? Really? I'm one of them? Woohoo! I can wait another three hours for the next plane? How novel on an empty stomach! Oh, the car rental company doesn't have my reservation? Really? How exciting on an empty stomach? No, I don't want the cargo van. No, I don't want the SUV? I'll take a convertible. No? Of course you don't have that. Yes, I'll wait. Finally got to my friend Danapau, Matt, and Bruce's place at 2:30. I then killed one of their dogs and ate it.

Like I said, all the bad karma must be gone, right?

I didn't know you were half Asian.

I think your karma ran over their dogma.

how did the subway get caught behind a trash truck? that is some damn inefficient means of travel... Sounds like a nightmare trip, hope you got all the kinks out and can enjoy the rest of your journey ; )

sal's trip got off to a bad start too you know. at least you weren't hitchhiking, and at least you aren't back where you started already.

On the 2002 trip that took me to (among other places) NYC, I had great fun trying to get to Richmond from Washington D.C.

I could laugh as soon as I got to Tom's place.

Too bad you didn't get a flight out of Laguardia. You're like a few blocks from the M60...but then again, on my recent trip to Branson I learned it doesn't really run at 4AM.

Ugh flying sucks.

How do you cope with cold showers? I just have to break out the boiled water and the towel.

The terror that is I without food makes Joan Crawford look like a B-list amateur. Which is why these new rules regarding food are going to hurt them more than me. Did you eat the dog with BBQ or Lemon-Ginger sauce?

Enjoy your trip -- It sounds like you earned it.

If flying was punishment before 2 weeks ago, it is certainly even worse now. I miss the good ole days of un-crowded, frequent planes that were actually sortof clean and not being run so much they break constantly...

You should email me the next time you travel - I was a travel agent for years and am a flying geek. PLus I am an affiliate of a bunch of travel sites and companies ;-) Now that I am incomeless I need all the clicks I can get!

Enjoy your time off! I will need counseling when you get back - I start teaching in less than two weeks!
