Student Logic

Not quite a conditional/converse relationship, but it seems to work for kids:

Student with an A:
Look! I EARNED an A!

Student with an F:
Look! The teacher GAVE me an F!

Parent-teacher conferences are so fun.

I used to blame teachers 'n' their grading system over a bad grade, but that was before I learned how to keep aware of what my grade 'n' asked what I could or had to do to raise my grade. It never hurts to ask for extra credit, too.

That DOES seem familiar, though outside of languages and history, I didn't see many As.

Still most people I knew liked the passive expressions: "I got an A! or "I don't want to talk about it..."

If it makes you feel any better, this view stays the same all the way through college.

I had a teacher once who explained on the first day of class that "everyone has an A." Our responsibility was simply to keep it.

I got a B-.

I earned an F in algebra, but the teacher gave me a C- to get me the fuck out of his class. ;-)
