I hate Microsoft Entourage and my stupid Treo

Yes, I know that I should switch to Apple Mail. I know that the Treo is a computer, so it shouldn't be trusted. The reason I haven't backed up in 6 months is that every time I try to sync the two, it duplicates EVERYTHING in my address book, throws out data, and I hate it.

HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT.

I spent 5 hours beginning to update my address book, trying to merge flawed contacts, update 6 months of info. I then tried to backup the data using Microsoft's database stuff, and it erased all of my work.

HATE MICROSOFT. HATE TREO.

I'll be sending out a mass email asking everyone for their info again, as I asked for some info, then deleted those emails. Stupid, stupid me.

GRRRRRRRRR.

I've always found it vaguely disturbing when people use their Treo's - as phones. I keep thinking, "Why is that poor soul talking into their calculator?"

I want a device that fits in the palm of my hand but displays the "screen" and "keyboard" on the nearest wall via some sort of laser display.

I want it to be pretty without being ostentatious, smell nice and, most importantly, NOT say "Kill them all, now!" (My current Nokia does that. Most annoying.)

You're a whore for even owning a Treo! (Oh wait, that didn't make much sense.)

I am among those fortunates that only requires a simple cell phone. I dread the day I ever get a job that will require me to get a combo computer, phone, can opener. I tried working with Entourage when I first got Microsoft Office, but the bruise on my forehead from banging it against the desk got just too painful. Good luck. My resident tech guru flew the coop and is on his way to California and Google, so I can't consult with him for you. Good luck.

There is something wrong with the world when one can get completely stressed out from a phone.

I agree with you about the Palm / Microsoft syncing INcompatibilities. The Microsoft calendar system is especially annoying. My solution? I stopped using Outlook / Entourage entirely. I let gmail handle my email, and the Palm Desktop software handle my calendar / contacts / notes. Much fewer problems with duplicate entries now. Not giving up the Treo though - i like its calendar, and really dig how it saves txt messages as chats - the camera does kinda suck.

In another anti-microsoft move, google documents let you read/edit word and excel files online now without having to actually own either of those programs. I <3 google.

That's so freaking annoying! And I don't think it's stupid you at all, it's stupid microsoft. Hope it's an easy process getting it all back.

Let's hear it for Flock (a browser that facilitates blogging and uses FireFox as a derivative platform) and gmail. No need for silly Microshaft and Winblows Explorer.

If you'd like any help with that process, let me know. I learned a lot about sync stuff on a project for a large university. And I haven't lost most of it, yet.
