Old dog. New trick.

bearandtoucan.jpg

Be careful about clicking on the pic above. My very old dog is so cute that her cuteness may cause your head to explode.

Bear is all sorts of goodness- she is super mellow, always friendly, and extremely well behaved. She is also about 14 years old. In those 14 years with me, she has never played fetch. There have been a few times playing with other dogs that she would chase another dog playing fetch, but throwing objects did not initiate the primal dog instinct present in other dogs.

Our temporary housing is normally the home of a dog named Booger. Booger LOVES fetching, and has lots of toys. Derrick discovered Bear playing with one of the toys, played with her, and threw the toy.

And Bear, after 14 years of no fetching, fetched.

And now we have a puppy again.

What new tricks have you learned lately?

Soooooo cute.
There must be something in the water. This year, George has learned to swim at age 7, and Mattie has learned to fetch at age 5.

Marc just got done piecing my head back together. I ignored your warning, clicked on the photo and my head did explode from the cuteness!

BTW, one of ours dogs is a non-fetcher, too. I throw something and tell him to get it, and he shoots me a look that clearly says, "Get it yourself, fat-ass! I'm not your slave!"

Bear is all sorts of beautiful. It's amazing when an old dog suddenly starts playing. They just bounce like a puppy again. (Two of my dogs are 12 years old).

You have not had bear for 14 years. She looks really good. L dog's doing well. I caught him jumping up on a 3.5 foot retaining wall the other day behind our apartment. It freaked me out when he did it, I was sure he would crash and fall, but nope, he seems to know what he can do. He's not squerrel fast amymore, but no signs of arthritis yet.
